Khorog
Khorog is located at the valley in Pamir which is the largest town in this region and attracts people from far. Khorog is the capital of Gorno-Badakhshan which means “Mountainous Badakhshan” Autonomous Province (GBAO) in Tajikistan. The city is located at the bottom of a deep canyon at the junction of three rivers: Panj, Gunt and Shahdara. It has beautiful trees that dominates the flora of the city. It is the best place to rest before and after the emptiness of Pamir plateau. In Khorog you can enjoy its Central Park to rest and relax. If you go there in summer time, you will enjoy its multi-cultural musical festival and different exhibitions. Its Botanic Garden is the highest botanical garden in the world Guinness book of World Records. On Lenin Street you can visit its museum and its bazaar is where you can buy woolen crafts like traditional socks and Pamir style fabrics. Jelondy hot spring is 120 km east of Khorog (on M42 Pamir Highway) for its healing water.
