Provinces and Cities of Iran
Iran with the total 1,648,195.00 km2 area is divided into 31 provinces. It is 2.5 times bigger than Texas. Its capital Tehran is located in the northern part of the country. Throughout the history Iran had more than 30 previous capitals which is more than any other country in the world. The largest cities of Iran are as following: Tehran (the capital), Mashhad, Isfahan, Tabriz, Shiraz and so on. All these cities have their own international airport. Iran owns more than 30 islands in the Persian Gulf and one island in the Caspian Sea.
Iran's Location:
Iran is a kind of land bridge which connects the Middle east, the Caucuses, the Central Asia and the South Asia. It has border with seven neighbor countries: Turkey, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Turkmenistan. The main part of the north it is surrounded by the Caspian sea and from south by the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
