Penjikent
Penjikent a small town in the Zarafshan river valley is very well-known for the archaeological sites of Old Panjakent and Proto-urban Site of Sarazm which is the only cultural site inscribed as the World Heritage Site by UNESCO in Tajikistan. Very ancient site dating back 4000 years BC. It has been holding a long history of what has happened by passing time. Only 27 km from Penjikent, the Geological phenomenon that caused to create Seven-lakes –Hazorchashma- one of the most beautiful natural sites of Tajikistan; the combination of mountains and lakes. But there is a legend for each lake! Amazing place for trekking and even it is possible to bathe in the 3rd lake. Besides all these, one of the unique places attracts the lovers of poem, literature and architecture is the tomb of illustrious Persian poet Rudaki.
